Dubai is the new favorite of western and the eastern tourists and no one is surprised. Ever since the Mideast has become the oil hub of the world, development charts are skyrocketing there.
Constant development has seen people coming and going there, week in week out. Like every country in the world, there are a few cultural and social conducts which one must follow.
Dubai being a Muslim county has some very different rules from the majority of the western countries. What are these rules and how strictly you should follow it? We prepared a list, let’s have a peek.
Dress Inappropriately
On the beach and want to take a topless sunbath? Not here sister, you can’t. Dubai government frowns upon severely on the dressing, especially when you are in public.
Women must cover their hands and legs adequately before coming on the streets. Bikinis/two pieces are only for the beaches.
Crossdressing is illegal too; you may have to do time for it, pick your wardrobe cleverly then.
Adultery Outside The Wedlock
Having any kind of sexual activity with a person with whom you are not married to, is legally prohibited. This law is stringent in the whole UAE about adultery.
You cannot share a room with opposite sex if you are not married to him/her.
Dance Or Playing Music On Streets
Hide the boomboxes away and do not dance on the streets even if you have your earphones on. Dancing and singing are only accepted on the dance floors and karaoke.
Mousiki or music is forbidden as per Islam law so, don’t do it in public.
Getting Drunk In Public
Consuming alcohol is against the law in almost all the Muslim countries. Dubai, however, is somewhat moderate/laidback in this matter.
You can drink alcohol if you are not a Muslim but you cannot get drunk in public, it may land you in jail.
Porn And Pork
Two most important rules to remember while staying in Dubai are; don’t ask for porn and pork/. It is a crime in any Muslim country not only in Dubai.
Eating pork is blasphemy in Dubai, and you will get punished, for sure.
Drugs
Dubai has a zero-tolerance policy against the drugs. The penalties are very harsh on drug dealers, smugglers and consumers.
If you can, avoid taking drugs in Dubai.
Public Display Of Love
Who doesn’t like to give their partner a gentle pat on the cheek or a tender kiss? No one in Dubai! That’s who. Public and the authorities in Dubai come heavily on any public display of affection.
Don’t Tell Them You Are Homosexual
Homosexuality is banned in Dubai, but no screening process may keep LGBTs out of the country. Unless you are not telling everyone you are a homosexual, you are safe, and good to go, please don’t do that.
Ending note
So these are the eight things one must never do when s/he is traveling to Dubai. Every place has its own rules and following them is our obligation.
You don’t jump out of the car during lion safari, why should break the rules now?
